How your horoscope is made

Every night we compute the positions of the Sun, the Moon and every planet with the astronomy library astronomy-engine. It uses the same kind of models observatories use and is accurate to well under an arc minute for the Moon and planets.

That gives the facts you see across the site: which sign the Moon is in, how much of it is lit, when the next full and new moon fall, when an eclipse is coming and whether Mercury is retrograde. These facts are real and you can check them.

For sun sign horoscopes, Western astrology has used solar houses for decades. Your sign is the first house, the next sign the second, and so on. If the Moon sits in your seventh house today, partnership is the theme of the day.

The daily horoscope follows the Moon, because it changes sign every two to three days. Weekly and monthly readings add the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars, plus new moons, full moons and retrogrades. The yearly horoscope rests on Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and the eclipses.

For every house, moon phase and sign there are written text blocks, more than a thousand per language. They were drafted with the help of AI and checked against fixed rules. English and German are each written on their own; Spanish and French are free adaptations, not word for word translations.

Selection is fixed: the same sign on the same day always gives the same text, on every device. No block repeats on two days in a row.

No statements about health, illness, pregnancy, law or investing. No predictions of misfortune, accidents or breakups. When Nebu gets cheeky, it is about the situation, never about you.

Astrology is a tradition thousands of years old and here it is mostly entertainment. It does not replace advice from people who actually know the subject. The stars are real, the reading is Nebu’s opinion.

Ask Nebu is an independent project from Germany. It is funded by advertising, which is why everything is free and needs no sign-up. The people responsible are listed in the imprint.
