Three Card Tarot Reading: Past, Present, Future

Shuffle the deck, turn three cards and let Nebu read what they say about where you came from, where you stand and where things are heading. Free, quick and surprisingly honest.

Tarot is for reflection and entertainment. It does not predict the future and does not replace advice on health, money or legal questions.

How the three card spread works

The three card spread is the classic first reading. You think of a question or just of your life in general, shuffle the deck and turn three cards. The first card stands for the past, the second for the present and the third for the future.

Nebu uses the full deck of 78 cards: 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana in four suits. The big cards point to themes that shape a whole chapter of your life. The small cards show everyday moods, choices and people.

About one card in four lands reversed. That is part of the game, and it makes every reading a little different. Nothing here is fixed in stone, so treat the result as a prompt for your own thinking.

What past, present and future really mean

The past card is not a verdict on your history. It shows the energy that still hangs around your question: a habit, a hope, an old decision that keeps echoing. Ask yourself what you carried in from there.

The present card describes the mood of the moment. It often names the thing you already half know but have not said out loud. If it feels uncomfortable, that is useful. A challenge that has a name is already smaller.

The future card shows the direction things lean if you keep going as you are. It is a tendency, not a timetable. You can steer, so read it as an invitation and not as a promise.

How to read the three cards together

Do not read each card alone. Look for the story between them. Does the mood rise or fall? Does a suit repeat? Three cups in a row talk about feelings, while swords point to thoughts and conflict.

Many major arcana cards in one reading mean the topic is bigger than it looks. Mostly minor cards suggest that daily choices matter more than fate. Both are good news, because daily choices are yours.

If a card confuses you, tap it to read its full meaning. Then write down the one sentence that stung or surprised you most. That sentence is usually the real answer.

Tarot as reflection, not prediction

Tarot is a mirror with beautiful pictures, not a crystal ball. It cannot know your future, and it should never replace advice on health, money or legal questions. Its strength is that it makes you look at your own situation from a new angle.

Nebu reads the cards in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition, the classic deck from 1909 that most modern decks follow. The meanings are rooted in that imagery, and the wording is Nebu's own.

Come back as often as you like. Just do not ask the same question ten times hoping for a nicer card. Nebu has seen that trick, and he is not impressed.

Frequently asked questions

Is the three card tarot reading really free?

Yes. You can shuffle and draw as often as you like, with no sign-up and no payment. Nebu only asks that you take the answers with a pinch of humour.

What does each card position mean?

The first card shows the past influence on your question, the second shows the present situation and the third shows the direction things are leaning. Together they tell a small story.

What do reversed cards mean?

A reversed card is a blocked, delayed or inward version of its upright meaning. It is never doom. Think of it as a hint about where the energy is stuck or turned toward yourself.

Can I ask a question or should I keep it open?

Both work. A clear open question such as “What do I need to know about this week?” gives the best results. Yes or no questions are better handled by the yes-no oracle.

How often can I draw three cards?

As often as you want, but one reading per question is plenty. Drawing again and again until you like the answer teaches you nothing.

Does tarot predict the future?

No. Tarot is a tool for reflection and entertainment. The cards show themes and tendencies, and what you do with them stays your decision.
